Nun’s Leadership Journey Continues Online
(Summer, 2020)
When COVID-19 made gathering physically impossible, we switched to meeting online. Our first ever all-nun Leadership Cohort, which began in September 2019, was soon doing many other firsts: first Zoom calls, first Google classroom lessons, first time making slides and interacting online. The obvious downsides of face-to-face interactions aside, the pandemic expedited our online programs, which we had been planning to launch for a while. Online exchanges were more frequent than our on-site institutes, which can be sometimes 8 months apart. In weekly hour-long classes, taught by experts from the National Writing Program, the nuns are designing projects that they will develop and implement in the future. They also teach lessons on Buddhism and science, as they serve as science leaders in their communities.
