The “Secrets of Particles” exhibition was inaugurated by Geshe Lhakdor la, the director of LTWA on 14th March 2022 at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives. Since then, an exhibit team from the Science Department of LTWA and SFMN, and monk scholars from different monasteries have traveled around various places for exhibition.
The “Secrets of Particles” delves into the secret realm of particles, drawing intriguing parallels between quantum mechanics and the Buddhist concept of interdependence and emptiness. As we navigate the frontiers of Science and Buddhism, the exploration of particles through the lens of quantum mechanics and the insights of Buddhist philosophy offers a profound journey into the nature of reality. This kind of exploration may unlock at least some aspects of the secrets of the universe and cultivate a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
Leadership programmes are structured around groups of cohorts that enroll in multiple programs and work on tasks like creating exhibits, publishing a journal, and creating new programs at their science centers. Over three to four years, cohorts of about 30 to 40 monastics attend four or more leadership institutes (a total of 10 weeks or 400 hours of instruction).
The “Secrets of Particles” display was created by the third leadership cohort after they finished their leadership training. The exhibition is about particles, which educates about particles from Buddhists and quantum perspectives.
The initiative was organized and supported by the Science Department of the Library of Tibetan Works Archives, in collaboration with Science for Monks and Nuns, with funding from the Sager Family Foundation and the Templeton Foundation. The “Secrets of Particles” display was created by the third leadership cohort after they finished their leadership training. The exhibition is about particles, which educates about particles from Buddhist and quantum perspectives.
